Frequently Asked questions
Where does the hackathon happen?
The hackathon takes place on the EPFL Campus at the SPOT building.
How much does it cost?
Thanks to our sponsors, the hackathon is a free experience. You will be provided food (three meals per day), and unlimited snacks (and other form of chemical-based neuromodulation such as coffee :P) during the day and night. Our team will also take into account your food diet during your registration.
Do I need special skills to come?
Our Hacakthon is open to everyone motivated to help in their own way our challengers. Any soft skill (sewing, presenting, socializing) is much appreciated.
What should I bring for the hackathon?
Bringing your laptop is highly recommended. You are also more than welcome to carry material (electronic boards, contraptions, past projects) that could help to the realisation of the project.
Where can I sleep during the hackathon?
Unfortunately, we are not able to provide a place to sleep at the moment. However, we organize and promote couch surfing among our participants through Slack/Whatsapp/other channels. If you come from far, we recommend you to book a place around (e.g. through Airbnb).
What tools will be available during the hackathon?
The Fablab includes several tools for you to use for your project, such as 3D printers, laser cutter, etc.
What materials will be at our disposal?
Before the hackathon, our team orders specific material for ach challenge. The organizers will share the list of available material before the hackathon. If anything is missing, you will have time during the hackathon to buy what is missing (we provide you the budget!).
