Personalized travel bed for Colin
About Célian
My name is Célian, and I carry a chromosome anomaly (Dup15q) that makes life different for me. I'm 4 years old, I learned to walk a year ago, I don't speak, and I have a very special diet that stabilizes my epilepsy.
However, I'm very good at making myself understood, I like going to school and I smile a lot. I like to interact with others in my own way, and I also like to be in my own bubble exploring books, playing with objects or listening to music. If you don't know me yet, I don't have the same codes as you (because of ASD), but you'll soon be able to decipher me!
Challenge
I can't sleep in a bed without security. Our family trips are becoming complicated. We haven't yet found a solution that meets all our criteria. We need a compact, lightweight travel bed that's easy to set up, affordable and secure.
When we travel or go away for the weekend, I sleep in a pop-up tent, but we don't have the option of attaching the baby monitor to see what's going on in the tent (to monitor epilepsy and insomnia), or attaching the tent to any bed structure (1 or 2-seater). All the other disability-specific solutions we've found are either extremely expensive, bulky, fragile, difficult to install, or several of these criteria at once.
