Frequently Asked Questions
+ Where does the hackathon happen?
The Hackathon takes place at the Student Project House at ETH Zentrum in Zurich.
+ How much does it cost?
Thanks to our sponsors, the hackathon is a free experience. You will be provided food (three meals per day), and unlimited snacks and coffee during the day and night. Our team will also take into account your food diet during your registration.
+ Do I need special skills to come?
Our Hackathon is open to everyone motivated to help in their own way our challengers. Any soft skills (presenting, socializing, project planning, …) are as valuable as hard skills (clinical knowledge, sewing, coding, soldering, …)!
+ What should I bring for the hackathon?
Bringing your laptop is highly recommended. You are also more than welcome to bring material (electronic boards, past projects, …) that could help realize the project.
+ Where can I sleep during the hackathon?
Unfortunately, we cannot provide a place to sleep at the moment. However, we organize and promote couch surfing among our participants through Slack/Whatsapp/other channels. If you come from far, we recommend you to book a place around (e.g. through Airbnb).
+ What tools will be available during the hackathon?
We will provide several tools for you to use for your project, such as 3D printers, laser cutter, etc. More details can be found on the homepage of the Student Project House (https://sph.ethz.ch/).
+ What materials will be at our disposal?
Before the hackathon, our team orders specific material for each challenge. The organizers will share the list of available material before the hackathon. If anything is missing, you will have time during the hackathon to buy what is missing (we provide you the budget!).
+ Who owns the project and the intellectual property?
The project and IP are owned by the team working on the project. As a team member, you are encouraged to pursue this project and try to develop it after the hackathon. If you want, you can also share your results through our open-source channels to enable other communities to help who's in need.
