Develop a hand helper for Caroline

About Caroline

Caroline is a smiling mother, she has a malformation of both her hands, although she manages to do most of the common things, it is problematic when it comes to dexterity or grasping. She never went to see specialists like ergonomists or prosthetists and she learnt everything on her own. She is willing to step forward and do something to improve her everyday’s life.

Challenge

Her birth defect makes it hard for her to perform important tasks like cooking, biking and typewriting on computers for work. It is important to mention that it is actually painful as one of her right’s hand fingers is highly sensitive. Fast movements induces huge pain as the finger can be blocked. She does any grasping with the left hand, and does almost everything with the right one. The idea here would be to design some prosthesis that could alleviate the pain she can have while typing or can help her cooking. As a lot of objects are falling from her hands everyday, she could benefit from a grasping feature.
